Kick-Ass 2 The Game Review

Kick-Ass 2 video game review. Coming out in May of 2014, this game is destined to be a failure.

Back in 2010, shortly after the release of the first Kick-Ass movie, Kick-Ass the video game was released as a PSN downloadable game. Graphics similar to Grand Theft auto, decent music and of course loads of violence. Dialog lacked, swearing every other word. Not offended but doesn’t that make the characters look a little stupid?

The original Kick-Ass video game had one good thing, the cast. Chloe Grace Moretz, Mark Strong, Aaron Taylor-Johnson were all playing their parts. Although Nick Cage did not voice Big Daddy.

Now, 4 years later, Kick-Ass 2 the video game will be coming out soon. This time they’ve changed up the graphics with a more of a Jet Set Radio style, more cartoonish(comic bookish, better!) This time around the voice actors are different. I’m not sure what kind of accent Kick-Ass has, but it’s awful.

So let’s dig into the trailer and some game play videos. Below is the actual PC gameplay:

First thing to note is that voice, both Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass sound awful and make lame jokes. Kick-Ass says things like “I’m just a kid” while he’s fighting and “up we go!” as he jumps over a fence. Even though the original actors weren’t the voice actors in this video game sequel, they could have at least found someone a little closer to Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Kick-Ass’s voice seems to change from when he’s having a conversation with Hit-Girl on the cell phone to when he speaks as he’s being attacked.

Aside from the voice acting, the combat looks sluggish. I haven’t actually played the game yet so I can’t comment on the feel but it does look like there are only a few attacks(kicks and using his weapons). There’s also an electric charge, which appears to be graphically messy. The “finishing moves” don’t seem very fluid, blood splatters seem unnecessary, and sometimes it looks like the attacks aren’t even connecting yet still damage the enemies. Sometimes when you get hit, you’ll notice the blood splatter on the screen or the screen turns dark for a second, this is then followed by Kick-Ass saying something like “F*** you, man!”.

There’s really not much else to say, decent graphics, horrible voice acting, and gameplay that seems to just be the same crap over and over again. Kick-Ass 2 will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this May.

This is not a review, you haven’t played the game, so the headline is false, this is first impressions at best…
