The Strain premiers tonight on FX at 10 p.m. EST. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, this series will take off with a bang and most likely go on for multiple seasons (“When Guillermo del Toro first conceived The Strain, he intended it to be a vampire horror TV series between three and five seasons long.”) Apparently in 2009 there was “little interest” in this type of series, so the show wasn’t brought into creation then.

“A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.” - (Source)

The FX show “The Strain”, is based on the Dark Horse Comic of the same name. (Purchase Volume 1 here). The comic is an ongoing series, similar to The Walking Dead, and is currently on its 4th Volume that was just currently released earlier this month(July 2014).
